March VPN Updates

We’re back again with a roundup of some of what our favorite VPN providers have been up to this month. We couldn’t wait to tell you about the new ExpressVPN app for Mac last week, but there are still some juicy bits of news for current and new subscribers alike.

No More Blackouts with StrongVPN

Major League Soccer may not be as huge as some of the other sporting events out there, but it still has millions of fans who are disappointed because of all the blackouts that happen, both locally and nationally. But everyone can watch MLS footage or catch it live when they have the right VPN subscription. StrongVPN has great servers that can be used to catch games in full HD so that the 75 dollars you pay for the season will be totally worth it. There are even some great StrongVPN package discounts for new subscribers to make it even better.

StrongVPN has over 800 servers that anyone with a MLS Live subscription can connect to so they can access any of the games regardless of scheduled blackouts. Whether you live in the US or anywhere else in the world, there will be no trouble watching any game with a StrongVPN package. If the blackout is outside the US, all that viewers need to do is connect to a US server and access will be granted. The opposite is also true – connect to a server in another country where the game is available if it is blacked out in the US. Within the US, local blackouts can be easily circumvented by connecting to a server in another US city.

New ibVPN Servers and ibDNS Channels

ibVPN has opened new servers for their VPN packages in Portugal and Argentina. ibVPN now covers 39 countries with their fast service. The new Portugal server is located in Lisbon and can be used by all subscribers of the EU, Multi, Total, or Ultimate VPN packages. The new Argentina server is located in Buenos Aires and can be used by all subscribers of the Multi, Total, or Ultimate VPN packages. These subscribers do not have to pay anything extra to use these servers. The Lisbon server is labeled ar1.ibvpn.com and supports the PPTP, L2TP, IPSec and OpenVPN protocols. The Buenos Aires server is labeled pt1.ibvpn.com and also supports the PPTP, L2TP, IPSec and OpenVPN protocols.

For exiting users, just relaunch the ibVPN client to see and select these new servers on the list. Those who are new to ibVPN can get a 6-hour free trial to test out the more than 90 different available server connections from this provider. Users are also encouraged to tell ibVPN about the server locations and protocols they would like to use. Who knows, your suggestion could become server #40.

ibVPN’s SmartDNS service has also added new channels. SmartDNS subscribers can now access ten more channels, bringing the SmartDNS total of unblocked channels to over 160. These new channels are Globo TV (Globo) in Brazil, RDS (TSN) in Canada, BFMTV in France, Sport1 in the Netherlands, AntenaPlay (Dolce – TelekomTV) in Romania, and Sling TV (Dishworld) in the US.

Georestrictions are no match for the superior SmartDNS technology, which brings users a variety of movies, news and sports from around the world. And what’s even better is that SmartDNS does not eat up your bandwidth. For those who are new to SmartDNS, you will need to set up your DNS IP to use the service. The ibDNS team is always available to help new users get the system up and running whether by email or live chat. Tell them also what other channels you want to see next so they can start working on it.

HMA’s New Servers and Hide My Phone App

User feedback has again succeeded in bringing more servers to the HMA network. The expansion in existing countries includes a server in Baguio City, a new location in the Philippines, with 124 IPs, one additional server in Barcelona, Spain also with 124 IPs, one new server in Thessaloniki, a new location in Greece, with 127 IPs, and two additional servers in Trumbull, Connecticut, USA with 254 IPs between them.

There are also now 11 new countries that have added 16 new servers with 3245 new IP addresses in total to the network. The new servers each add 123 or 124 IPs to the network. They are located in Antsiranana, Madagascar; Arusha, Tanzania; Dakar, Senegal; Gondar, Ethiopia; Khartoum, Sudan; Kinshasa, Congo; Luanda, Angola; Lusaka, Zambia; N’Djamena, Chad; Niamey, Niger; and Pemba, Mozambique.

The most exciting news from HideMyAss! is their new phone privacy app called Hide My Phone! This app is for Android and iOS users who want more privacy from snoopers when they use their smartphones so that they don’t have to give up these devices’ cool features. This is not the beta version of the app but the tested version that is ready to be used by the general public.

Android and iOS users can turn on this app and hide their phone numbers so they can’t be tracked through it like Internet snoops use IPs to monitor where you go and what you do online. The app gives users a new number that is known only to that user. This number can be given out without fear of privacy breaches or identity theft. Users can have multiple numbers if they want, and get rid of them when they are done using them. Hide My Phone! Also has the HMP! Chat feature, which provides private instant messaging along with the bonus of a wipe feature and PIN protection.

25,000 IP Addresses from IPVanish

IPVanish now has more than 25,000 IP addresses for subscribers to connect to for secure and private browsing. Up from 14,000 IPs, this is a major upgrade that all IPVanish users can benefit from without paying extra. They can access any of the now over 165 IPVanish VPN servers for the same reasonable price.

New IPVanish users still also get the same 7-day money back guarantee if they are not satisfied with the service. Existing users still get the free IPVanish software to use on their PCs, Macs, Androids and iOS devices, and can use their accounts to connect two devices to the VPN at the same time. They can also still enjoy unlimited server use and server switching on the world’s only real tier-1 VPN network.

VyprVPN Server Updates and New Port Selection Feature

VyprVPN added two new servers this month. One is in Panama City, Panama, and is the provider’s second Central America location. The other is in Taipei, Taiwan, and is VyprVPN’s tenth Asia server location. The total available number of servers for VyprVPN users is now at over 50 with more than 200,000 IP addresses to go around. All of these servers scattered around Central America, Europe, North America, Oceania, and South America can be used freely with a VyprVPN subscription. To use the new servers on your desktop, just look for them on the server locations list. When using the app on mobile devices, first log out of VyprVPN and they will appear on the list when you log back in.

VyprVPN’s most exciting development is the availability of Port Selection for Mac and Windows users who have signed up for either the Pro and Premier VyprVPN plan. Now users will not be foiled by their governments, schools, or other people want to block the default port for a VPN connections. Now desktop users can always rely on an encrypted Internet connection with VyprVPN Port Selection, which opens up an array of available UDP ports. When used with the VyprVPN Chameleon protocol or OpenVPN, users can have an even better experience. This is just the first of many new features scheduled to come your way soon, so stay tuned.
